Wellness Challenge 2019: Day 6
Trail Mix Blend
Today is the first of our “nourish” tasks for this month on the NYT Well Challenge. The task is to create a go-to snack to curb unhealthy food choices. Every Wednesday in the office is brownie day – one of the perks of working in an office attached to an artisan cafe… One of the perks and one of my downfalls.
The goal of the nourish tasks is to create positive eating habits throughout the month. And this challenge, in particular, asks us to think proactively about the choices around us.
If I know that Wednesday is brownie day, I should make sure to pack my bag with healthy alternatives that I enjoy just as much and won’t cause me to have 3 am panic attacks about my growing flab. So, I’m making trail mix – because I couldn’t decide on one type of nut. If I run out then I’ll resort to a spoonful of my famous peanut butter ‘recipe’.
What I thought
Honesty, I haven’t had the chance to implement this task properly yet. It’s the weekend, after all. But come Monday I’ll be sure to pack my snacks and avoid sweet temptations.
Trail mix can be quite expensive when compared to free brownies… but if the alternative is sadness, then I’ll take the cash debt. I hope this works! I’ll give it a proper try this week. Hopefully, it will help me to make healthy choices… I think preparation is the key. If I have my snack with me, it has to help!
