Intentions and Honesty. Wellness Challenge 2019: Day 0
My Wellness Challenge 2019
So, It’s July. Yay! The sun is coming out and I’m starting to feel glowy, smiley and refreshed. I want to challenge myself to keep up this feeling and improve it, in a month-long summer challenge. To make it easier on myself. I’m going to take part in the NYT Wellness challenge 2019. Every day, a new step or goal appears in my inbox for me to try. I’ll do them, log them and reflect on them here.
What is it?
The NYT Well-challenge is a 30-day challenge that will help to build healthy habits for body, mind and spirit. It has four main challenge areas. “Move” Refresh” “Connect” and “Nourish”. All focusing on different areas of self-improvement.
What is this for?
I’ve spent a few years working on a huge project, that I’m proud of but it’s not finished. Imagine working on something really hard every day but never being happy enough to let go. I want to do this challenge to finish something I can be proud of, that I can use to demonstrate my abilities and to improve my state of mind. It might even give me that extra push I need to finish my damn book.
Before the challenge starts, they ask you to write a letter to yourself to lay out your intentions. Here’s mine:
My Letter: Intentions and Honesty
Dear me,
I know you. You’re a cynic. You’re going to try to make fun of this challenge just like the other ones. But really, who’s that helping? You’re sensitive in spirit and sometimes a little push to force you to think of your self is a good thing. So don’t make fun of this challenge. Embrace it!
I, we… you? Are going to complete each task with zest. Keep an open mind to the activities they’re going to suggest. And when you do, you’re going to feel energized, healthy and happy.
This is my letter to myself. Kept safe on my blog. Mostly for me but if anyone wants to follow along, this would be the place to start.
This challenge is not about views and SEO or any of that crap. It’s about you. (me…) So be willing and be curious. But most of all, be honest with yourself.
Do something nice. Because you deserve it.
Thanks for reading.
