Wellness Challenge 2019: Day 4

Boardgame Moments

Today is the first of the NYT Wellness Challenge‘s “connect” days. The task is to reinvent date night. The goal is to do something different that we’ll both find fun.

It takes time to plan something different and we’re both pretty indecisive individuals. So, in the meantime, I thought I’d try brushing the dust of old activities that we already know we enjoy doing together. We’ve been together for a while so sometimes we’re like passing ships in the night.

So this afternoon, we played a board game. Games are our thing but it’s been months since we played any. So, I literally wiped the dust away and sat us down to play. It was quite nice to take some time out from staring at screens or walking around; two of our fondest ‘together’ activities. Plus it was fun!

What I thought

It was horrible spending time with someone I love… joking. Obviously! It was fun, it was free and familiar but something we don’t do often enough.

Honestly, I thought, “why haven’t we been doing this all along?” Complacency I suppose… But I’m hoping to turn boardgame night into a weekly thing! It lifted my spirits and made me feel closer to him! It’s got nothing to do with him winning the game and me wanting a rematch… Not at all! Healthy connection – healthy competition

This task has inspired me to think of other activities we could do together over weekends and in the evenings during this thirty days. By the end of this challenge, we’re going to be sick of each other.

Overall, it’s a thumbs up for Wellness Challenge 2019: Day 4.
