Is Blogmas a thing? Day 1

Dec 1, 2017

Okay, okay. So I don’t have the best track record for finishing out the challenges… But behind the scenes, I am trying my best! Please believe me!

I watch a lot of youtube… Like, a lot. And they do vlogmas. Last year, I loved sitting down in the morning with my coffee and watch Dodger’s vlogmas videos. It really made me happy! And even though I’m not quite vlogging material, I’d like to give people the same feeling that I had when I was watching Dodger. But through this blog.

It’s not going to be structured… And you and I both know that I’m going to miss a couple of days – but I’m gunna try! And that’s the important thing! I want to make people happy with my words.

I think I forgot that that’s what I want to do; make people happy. I’ve been so focused on word counts and page counts, on finishing things as quickly as I can – because that’s the only way you can be validated as a writer. But that’s never been me. It’s never been the part that I like about writing. It’s never been why I write. So it shouldn’t be how I validate myself as a writer…

This blogmas I’m going to remember what I love about writing and stories and I’m going to share it with you! I might throw some Christmas stuff in there… but not yet! It’s too soon!

Today I’m going to talk about my workspace – which has been abandoned for the past couple of weeks.

I have a desk and a desk chair. And a bunch of screens. And clutter. And books. And I like it that way.

I love working at this desk. It makes me feel simultaneously like an adult and a kid. I sit here to work and I answer emails and type words but I also have pictures of my friends and inspiration and stuffed toys and eveelutions and (not that you can see them in this picture) but so many stickers.

The feeling I get at this desk motivates me to write. To think and to be inspired. I try my hardest to write where ever I am – but it always feels more natural when I’m in my messy little nest.

For the longest time, coffee shops gave me that same feeling. Before that, I used to love being in airports and trains stations.

And now it’s this desk.

Remember that you are valid and important whereever and however you work.

Have a lovely day, sitting where you’re most inspired.

Thanks for reading.
